Verify the basemap against a known control point (positional error in feet), then
correct it by shifting the imagery so what-you-see is true State Plane. The shift is
display-only (the dedicated basemap pane), fully reversible, and never resamples tiles.
Single-point translation only — MassGIS Web-Mercator warp is already exact, so a
rotation/scale fit would only chase click noise (~0.3 ft).

📐 Vertical Datum Calibration
Compares your imported survey elevations to the SAME LiDAR source your contours use
(MassGIS 1m bare-earth in MA, else USGS 3DEP). Computes the constant vertical offset and
applies it to every LiDAR-derived elevation in the app. A constant shift also absorbs a
local/assumed benchmark datum — expect ~0.1-0.3 ft residual scatter, not sub-inch truth.
Points used: imported survey points with elevations that have been placed on the map.
LiDAR is queried at 1-meter DEM resolution from USGS 3DEP.
